At K&B Lessons, Kristina Mullen, an industry-recognized instructor with over 15 years of competitive experience, leads our mission to transform riders into ribbon-winning competitors and confident owner-trainers. Her innovative approach—tailoring bespoke programs to each horse’s unique pace and translating equine behavior into human-friendly insights—sets K&B apart in the hunter/jumper community. Kristina’s elite coaching empowers riders to excel in local and regional competitions and equips owners with practical tools, including outside of lesson on-demand help, to train their horses independently, fostering profound partnerships that shine in and out of the arena.

- Elite Competitive Record: Competing in hunter/jumper circuits since 2010, earning numerous ribbons with the Utah Hunter/Jumper Association (UHJA) and Colorado Hunter/Jumper Association (CHJA), with standout successes in 2019 and 2024.
- Advanced Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences with an Emphasis in Equine Science and Management from Utah State University.
- Professional Certifications: Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) Certification; industry-recognized instructor, specializing in hunter/jumper training.
- Collegiate Excellence: Competed on the Utah State University IHSA English Equestrian Team, securing top placements against premier riders in the Midwest.
- Teaching Mastery: Instructing equestrians since 2014, coaching students since 2017 in IHSA competitions, local, and regional shows, with every student placing at least once at every show entered.
A Journey Rooted In Passion and Expertise
Kristina Mullen’s passion for horses ignited at age 10 during a Colorado horse camp, launching a career marked by dedication and achievement. She honed her skills through riding, volunteering, and earning CHA certification, securing multiple CHJA ribbons early on. At Utah State University, Kristina pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences with an Emphasis in Equine Science and Management, competing on the IHSA English Equestrian Team against top Midwest riders. Her focus on hunter/jumper excellence, complemented by a deep understanding of equine behavior and training, shapes her unique, education-driven approach.
Since founding K&B Lessons in 2019, Kristina has mentored riders to ribbon-winning success and empowered owners through her flagship Owner-Trainer Development service. This program offers tailored techniques, grounded in human-friendly explanations, and outside of lesson on-demand help to support independent training. With her horse Kashmir, Kristina has earned numerous UHJA ribbons, with standout wins in 2019 and 2024, showcasing their bond. Since 2017, she has coached students in IHSA, local, and regional shows, achieving a 100% placement rate at every event, reflecting her stress-free, results-focused methodology. Her students’ consistent success mirrors her own, driven by personalized, strategic guidance.
